This is the first photograph I saw of young Anne-Catherine Frey–posted by The Sartorialist in February of 2011. The post was about short hair styles so I was immediately drawn to it, but I also remember thinking, “Man, she can pull off those eyebrows!” Frey’s striking brows, short hair, and tomboy style combine to create a modern androgynous look that resonates classic tomboy fashionistas like Audrey Hepburn. A young fashion student from Luxembourg living in Paris, Frey has styled herself into a prominent fashion show attendee and has made an appearance on almost every prominent street style photographer’s website–from Tommy Ton, to The Sartorialist, to Vanessa Jackman. Anne-Catherine Frey now has her own personal blog which chronicles her life in fashion, A Truly Intriguing Subject.
Frey is not only a great inspiration for those interested in androgynous style, but also pattern mixing, dressing your age, and combining high end and lower end pieces. I have also been following Anne-Catherine as she grows out her famous bowl cut into a cute bob. Below shows one of her in-between styles and I know from experience that this part is tough. I’m not growing my hair out but I think I’m gonna try this cut before going super short again.
