A little “Throwback Thursday” to Charleston Fashion Week

Just wanted to share a few of my raw, unedited photos of my favorite emerging designer looks from Charleston Fashion Week 2014…

“A Stylish Day at the Urban Nirvana Salon”

I recently wrote a guest post for Urban Nirvana, an awesome spa and salon, here in Charleston! Check them out here and read my post:

sarah-frierson-lazy-lipstick-blogging-urban-nirvavnaYou know that phrase “treat yo’ self”? Lately I have been all about it because, why not? We all deserve it! And so when Urban Nirvana gave me the opportunity to treat myself to a day at their salon trying the hair and makeup lines they now carry, I jumped at the chance! Oh, and they threw in the chance for me to style a quick shoot using clothing and accessories from their spa and boutique just four doors down.

I was recommended to Becca Bartlett for her skills in styling short hair and her makeup artistry talents. Becca told me about a load of new products she was just discovering after a Bumble and Bumble expert’s recent visit with the salon’s stylists. Our idea was to use these to create an edgy short-haired look with tons of sass! One of my favorite things to do to set my short hair apart from the rest is going bigger with tons of texture. Becca gathered a combination of products (a couple which I now use often) that are meant to be used in combination with each other to achieve this type of look. A few of these really stuck out in my mind.

Becca started with Bb. prep and tonic lotion (whose tea tree oil adds an amazing scent), and followed that with their thickening hairspray and dry spun (a texturizing dry spray) to give it that funky fullness we wanted. She finished the look with my two favorite products from the experience: City Swept and Pret a PowderPret a Powderacts a dry shampoo and styling agent and the final touch of City Swept, a finishing spray, combine to give it a lived-in and effortless feel. These two products can be easily worked in at the roots or the ends to give lift and styled with your fingers. After a Glo Minerals make-up application and wardrobe selection featuring Angelrox clothing, photographer Gregg Lambton-Carr captured the entire look in his downtown studio.

I’m wearing the Angelrox wrap above, the most versatile of their dresses, as a mid-length skirt. The super soft and stretchy jersey knit dress is one size fits all and I am still learning all the ways the piece can be wrapped. You can learn some of the ways on their website, angelrox.com.

My favorite Angelrox piece is this super cozy cardigan and grey—perfectly slouchy paired with leggings or skinny jeans and I love the big floppy hood!

In the above photos, I am wearing The Flirt skirt by Angelrox in their “desert” stripe as a high-waisted skirt. This awesome piece has a great stretchy bodice that tucks in the tummy when folded down into a skirt or can be worn as a cute and easy strapless dress! Definitely a treat!

Cynthia Rowley x StylePublic, Style Star Social Party

On a rainy Wednesday night, Charleston’s fashion and style lovers gathered at Cynthia Rowley to celebrate the launch of a new style blog, StylePublic, created by one of the area’s most talented fashionistas, Ayoka Lucas.  Despite the weather, there was a great turn out and some great style on display.  My camera lens was focused on the array of accessories and little details on display, including the amazing Flask Bracelet by Cynthia Rowley (see below).
